Until about 2 weeks ago, I would have been happy with either Clinton or Obama.
Now, I will NOT vote for Clinton if she is the nominee.
This post explains why & tells my frustration with media. Apparently, who won Texas is a matter of opinion. Be sure and vote in the poll at the end of the post: WHO WON TX?
Three crucial points of background:
- I am politically active and support Obama.
- Until about 2 weeks ago, I would have been happy with either Clinton or Obama.
- Now, I will not vote for Clinton if she is the nominee.
This post is to explain how I see things in the democratic party, why I have turned not only towards Obama, but now actually against Hillary.
I read this morning in my local Iowa newspaper (story by AP), "Clinton, buoyed by BIG WINS IN OHIO AND TEXAS..." Apparently, who won the big state of Texas is a matter of opinion. (Don't forget to vote your opinion in the poll at the end of the post. ) Although readers of this website are likely more informed, most casual news viewers will just accept this misinformation that is repeated by the media (the media that is against Clinton?) I hosted an Obama house party where we called to Texas voters and told them about the two step process in Texas. The process that was clearly stated on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, FOX, my newspaper, etc: Texas selects its delegates via a mixed process. It is not a caucus, not a primary. It is both. Clinton and Obama were almost tied in the primary part, and Obama won decisively in the caucus. Because the Caucus results came in later, Clinton claimed victory based on the narrow primary margin.... and the mindless media dutifully repeated it after the pundits gave their talking points. I can not see how it is not a lie to say Clinton won Texas. It is scary to me that our press is not challenging this. Can anyone explain this in a way that makes sense? Please comment.
Second, the Canada NAFTA scandal that is not covered has deeply bothered me. When you pay attention and just look at the facts-- what seems to be the case is that Hillary Clinton's staff may have told Canada officials not to listen to what she says in the campaign about NAFTA, and "somehow" the main press is repeating that Obama staff did so -- which did not happen.

From Canada press:
"Mr. Brodie, apparently seeking to play down the potential impact on Canada, told the reporters the threat was not serious, and that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign had even contacted Canadian diplomats to tell them not to worry because the NAFTA threats were mostly political posturing.
The Canadian Press cited an unnamed source last night as saying that several people overheard the remark. The news agency quoted that source as saying that Mr. Brodie said that someone from Ms. Clinton's campaign called and was "telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt."
The story was followed by CTV's Washington bureau chief, Tom Clark, who reported that the Obama campaign, not the Clinton's, had reassured Canadian diplomats.
Mr. Clark cited unnamed Canadian sources in his initial report. There was no explanation last night for why Mr. Brodie was said to have referred to the Clinton campaign but the news report was about the Obama campaign. CTV president Robert Hurst declined to comment."

In Canada, the uproar over the false story about Obama has been SHARP. Have you heard there have been calls from Canada's parliament for Prime Minister to fire the source of the false story about Obama? Why haven't you heard?.... where do YOU get YOUR news?

Finally, I feel like what I see is that Hillary Clinton is ready to tear the party (and the country that I love) apart to gain the White House. I feel like her actions and talking points of her staff and supporters imply she does not feel obliged to follow the rules. Why did she choose to be the only candidate to put her name on the Michigan ballot? Why did she start to campaign (at least a little) in Florida. The rules were clear. How many states approved the rules? Now, she is aligning with republican governors on this. Her pundits appeal to emotion and against reason and fair play: "Disenfranchising entire states of American citizens who support the party is not only stupid, but is the most un-American thing I can imagine." Yikes. I hate to imagine what Gov. Christ and the Clinton’s agree to in their conversations.
I think Hillary Rodham was once a patriotic progressive reformer. But she has been in Power. And she has liked it. She now (in contrast to when she fought for health care reform when Bill was president) has a history of cozying up with the insurance lobby and many other corporate interests. She, I think, has become entrenched and likes the lifestyle. I want change. What is most frightening is the press. WHO WON TEXAS? WHOSE CAMPAIGN SPOKE TO CANADA ABOUT NAFTA STATEMENTS? HOW MANY STATES AGREED TO THE NOMINATION PROCESS? When I hear the press anchors repeating one sides’ daily talking points, I think of Fox news and shudder.
