There has been a lot of posts written since yesterday with regard to the first quarter fundraising totals and we figured we should probably add ours as well. This mornings Centre Daily Times released a story about not just the Democrats, but the R's too.
Well, we're pretty proud of the fact that we were able to raise over $120,000 in just 39 days. Not only has Bill been working hard at traveling all over the district and meeting voters, but the entire campaign has working just as hard to raise the necessary funds to win this race. Here are some additional facts about our fundraising that should be interesting to the netroots:
- 429 unique contributors.
- 175 donors of $50 or less.
- $52,394.89 raised just in online contributions.
Thank you to everyone who got involved with this campaign.
By comparison, the Centre Daily Times (hard copy only) is reporting that our two opponents in the primary have raised a combined total of $36,000.
We all know this district is large geographically. And it has been in Republican hands for a long time and no matter how hard you try, you will never get to reach out to every voter in person. It is going to take more than that. It is going to take some respectable amount of money to not only talk to Democrats in the fall, but to reach out and pull swing Independents and Republicans over as well. If we are ever going to change the direction of this country, it starts with winning seats like the PA-05.
And on another note, if you are in Centre County or nearby, come out to the Democratic Dinner at Tussey Mountain. Congressman Patrick Murphy, who has endorsed Bill will be delivering the Keynote Address.
