In this clip you'll see that Obama is amused that farmers in Iowa weren't asking him about corn, but they were actually asking him about other issues. Believe it or not, this happened all across Iowa!
It's really a shame that he has made these remarks. Here's the a cleaned up version of the recent gaffe:
I know have some have suggested the idea that he's actually speaking the truth. Say what?
I still don't understand. It seems like he said that when people go through an economic downturn, they cling to guns and religion. Seems to me those people are voting because they're single-issue voters, just as I was a single-issue voter when it came to gay marriage and gay rights. I don't think my support for that had anything to do with my economic status, do you?
I can't really comment on any bitterness that exists in the poor White community - I can't really say because I'm not White. Also, I was poor and my parents were never bitter - they worked hard and my mom has always been a devout Catholic - during poor times and now, during good times. My dad used to own a gun and had it in the house, but that's because he feared that the our apartment in Jackson Heights, Queens would get broken into while we were sleeping. He didn't own it because he was bitter - he was exercising his right to own it and protect his family.
