In the PA-05, there has been a lot - - I mean a lot of talk about opposition to the tolling of Interstate 80. Well, that changed this morning as Bill Cahir launched his No Tolls On I-80.
We started early this morning at the Jersey Shore exit (192) and headed west. With this past weekend being the opening of trout season, we decided to highlight the importance of keeping access to our state parks as inexpensive as possible. There are also a lot of "Mom and Pop" businesses that will be hit hard if there are tolls too. This is about jobs and trying to improve the economy by implementing a rural recovery strategy in Congress. Today Bill made stops and held press conferences at Bald Eagle and Moshannon State Parks. We'll have pictures up on our photos page soon.
Tomorrow Bill travels and make stops on the remaining 147 miles of I-80 that are in the PA-05 in Clearfield, Jefferson and Clarion Counties.
So please check out our tour release. It contains some good facts.
So while everyone else is out there talking, Bill is out meeting with people and traveling the entire distance of I-80 to prove a point.
UPDATE: The photos from Day 1 are up.
And we just released Bill's endorsement from the Teamsters/BLET. Those guys know a little something about transportation and how tolls would hurt workers and the economy.
