I’m bitter.
I’m bitter about the idiot who calls himself president. He’s sent our country well on it’s way to third world status, and I’m bitter about it. There’s no good humor, or "wait ‘til next year" in my mood. When I watch the news (and I have worked in the TV business for over 35 years) I constantly yell back at the talking heads.
I’m bitter that my son spent four years in the Marines, including one tour in Iraq, and came out a racist. I can’t believe a son of mine is racist, the ultimate in stupidity and selfishness, but it’s true. He also keeps guns in the house. I hate that too. He’s afraid, and the Marines made him thus.
I’m bitter that my money hardly buys me more than it did 35 years ago, when I started working, despite a good union job the whole time. I have a very strong union. We have good benefits, and I should have a pretty good retirement, but I could have been much better if the corporate pigs I work for hadn’t been so greedy.
I’m bitter that my car only gets 22 miles per gallon. Why? And of course I’m bitter about gas, which costs more than it ever did.
I’m bitter about the value of my US dollar. My daughter wants to go to Europe in the summer before collage, but I can’t afford to send her. Hell, I will have to go deep into debt to send her to a good college (which she deserves) but I make too much money for a good financial aid package. I’m bitter about the cost of college.
My town just re-assessed all of the property. My taxes almost doubled. But, NJ is afraid of a real income tax, so middle class homeowners get squeezed on property tax. I’m bitter about the unfair tax system, and that the Republicans have made "tax" a bad word. What happened to pay your fair share.
I’m bitter about getting older, and having less energy. (This one’s no one’s fault, but so what?)
I’m bitter about global warming, acid rain, the eastern hemlock beetle, and the Mets collapse last year.
Oh, and my memory isn’t as good as it once was, and I’m bitter about that too.
I’m mad at Gore for giving up in 2000, and for Kerry for conceding a stolen election.
I really should drink more or do drugs, maybe I’d be less bitter.
Oh, and I think religion IS the opiate of the people. I’m bitter about people who feel they have to say God Bless America all the time. I don’t believe in God, and I shouldn’t have to. I’m bitter about the end of the separation of Church and State.
And the end of the 4th Amendment.
And the 1st.
And I’m bitter about the NY Times, who hired William Fucking Kristol.
I feel better now.
Thank you for listening.
