If you haven't done so go to drudgereport and vote on the result of the debate. As much as I used to hate the guy, and will probably be pissed off with him in the near future, he hasn't posted anything I thought was propaganda in a couple months. Drudge has covered this primary MUCH more fairly then the corporate televised media and much of the online media. He hasn't obsessed on the the trivial bullshit that has consumed the rest of the media. Whereas, I used to see drudge as a guilty pleasure I actually feel like he is painting an accurate picture of this primary.
Last night I went to my parents house to watch the debate. They don't have a computer so for the first time in a long time I was out of pocket from the reaction of the people. I watch the post debate coverage which besides Keith, completely missed the mark. I ended up sleeping there so this morning I watched "Morning Joe" for a couple hours. It was the first time I've ever watched that show for more then 5 minutes. Talk about out of touch? Russart, Matthews, Tucker, Joe, Mika (who makes Alan Colmes look like a fighter) were all completely missing the story, which was ABC's over the top bias which I'm convinced will go down in history as one of the low points of the corporate media. They were all pushing this "Obamas worst performance, he was rattled, he didn't fight back, he said "um" to many times, he failed to answer the questions, etc, etc, etc. Mika was on board. It was sickening. I kept watching only because I was in disbelief, and I was waiting for David Axelrod who they promised was coming on. I watched the short Axelrod segment and then turned the shit off for good as they went to break before Howard Wolfson came on. MSNBC was all on board with whatever the hell ABC was up to last night.
WTF!! I was happy to see Drudge had the right story. He had a link to the Shales NYT article, and pointed out that ABC's cameramen were showing Chelsea repeatedly. What alternate universe am I living in where I'm relying on Matt Drudge to defend the truth?
Thanks for letting me rant. I don't usually do this. I usually stick with the comments. Its just I'm outraged and also grateful towards Kos and the people powered blogesphere that reminds me that I'm not alone. That just because MSNBC and ABC and the rest of the traditional corporate media are presenting an alternate reality that the people are telling a different story. Thank you to everyone here who has ever written a diary be it a well researched, intelligent piece, a thoughtful comment, a one liner that made me laugh, or even a dopey rant like this one.
And even though its only a matter of time before I regret saying this: Thank you to Matt Drudge for telling the story instead of writing your own story.
