Hashemi campaign obviously has adopted two main tactics;
1- focusing on poor class (the red zone of social pyramid) by following Karrubi's plan to give 500,000 rials per month to every Iranian over 18! now, Nobakht, Hashemi's economic spokesman, says we will give 800,000-1,200,000 rials per month to every unemployed iranian!
Hashemi vows to give 800000-1200000 Rls to every jobless person!, A reformist newspaper published in Tehran
Nobakht and other
amphibian reformist economists, usually accuse leftist economists of populism!! but it seems already they have got the message; Ahmadinezhad is really serious about throwing them out of their managerial posts!!
2- Unifying various kinds of social reference groups pro Hashemi to motivate the blue and green zones to change Hashemi's potential vote (the dotted line of social pyramid) to the real votes( solid line).
University professors, top cinema actors and actresses, clerics of Hawzah, all to back Hashemi!, A reformist newspaper published in Tehran
it seems the great war is at the "overlap zone", where Ahmadinezhad and Hashemi try to interest green and red classes. (blue and upper classes are Hashemi's "dedicated zones"). but I think Hashemi campaign act kind of amateurly in terms of the green zones. see the beneath pic and compare Hashemi's big colorful banner with Ahmadinezhad's black and white small banner while eating bread and cheese as his dinner(!) which symbolizes a very poor pious fair president! It may seem kind of ridiculous but believe me, for poor uneducated people, this is the finest possible ad which explicitly transfers "the message". I obtained these pics from their campaign in southern Tehran today.
Tomorrow (run-off) ; the day of judgment!
Update [2005-6-23 8:36:41 by vsredthoughtsecondedition]: According to the latest reliable pre-election polls; the 5-10% gap already has been filled or reduced to 2-5%( with a great margin of error). Ahmadinezhad is ahead about %2. another Neck and neck race and another hot friday!?
