Obama has been harassed by the Clinton about not being able to win women/ older people/working class votes and how that makes him too vulnerable to win in the general election.
But what about Hillary's weaknesses in appealing to certain groups?
She has serious problems with African-American voters, voters under the age of 40 and the new voters that the race has brought in.
While everyone talks about delegate counts and the popular vote this issue is just as much of a reason to doubt her electability.
The numbers from Pennsylvania last night courtesy of CBS:
African-Americans: Obama 89% Clinton 11%
Voters 18-24: Obama 66% Clinton 34%
Voters 25-29: Obama 55% Clinton 45%
Voters 30-39: Obama 57% Clinton 43%
Newly registered PA Democrats: Obama 62% Clinton 38%
Where in those numbers can anyone see someone who can win a general election or secure the future of the party?
How is this not a serious problem for her since some African-American's are talking about not voting for her at all. Since many younger and new Democrats are only participating because of Obama's appeal to them.
Let's call this situation for what it is. Obama has an advantage over Hillary but her strength amongst white women-they went for her by more than 30 points in PA yesterday-still makes it close.
But she can't win this way.
And the only reason she's been able to get away with this line of thinking is because the media sees the votes of older whites as more valuable than blacks and young people.
We need to make this problem for her as much a part of the media narrative as any questions about Obama's inability to win over parts of Clinton's base.
And just as important we need to challenge Clinton's supporters on her lack of a plan or a snowball's chance in hell of turning those numbers around.
The next time a Clinton supporter points out Obama's "problem" kindly ask how she intends to win back these groups.
All you'll get is silence.
