This text on Obama's website today caught my attention:
(David) Wu is Senator Obama’s 240th Superdelegate endorsement. Senator Obama is now 291 delegates away from winning the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.
Barack Obama site - David Wu
This is what salespeople call a presumptive close. That is very smart and honorable salesmanship on Obama's part. We now officially know it will take only 291 more delegates to achieve the goal/sale. We are more than 85% of the way through to the goal. I suggest DailyKos also maintain a counter as we countdown from this number to Zero, and thus Victory!
This is probably the first time the superdelegates total has been mentioned on the Obama site. There have been diaries posted earlier on DailyKos and elsehwere on how Obama needs 61 more SDs to ensure victory, and only 30-odd SDs to deny Clinton the victory. There have also been news reports expecting a steady trickle of superdelegates for Obama in the next couple of weeks. That is all goodness. A composite counter is a tactical, positive-psychology move that will help add take mind away from bogus or negative topics, and would focus people's minds positively on victory!
