What the hell? Is war coming early?

More coming... just posted on Jamie McIntyre's CNN blog a few minutes ago...
Now there's a CBS story about it:
A civilian ship working for the U.S. military fired warning shots at two small boats that approached it in the Persian Gulf, the U.S. Navy said Friday.... The Western Venture was in international waters in the central Gulf on Thursday morning when it was approached by two small boats of unknown origin, said Cmdr. Lydia Robertson, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.
At about 10 am Pacific time, this appeared on the front page of Raw Story:
US military personnel aboard a cargo ship traveling into the Persian Gulf fired nearly a dozen warning shots at Iranian speed-boats Thursday, according to several breaking news reports.
Reports of the incident prompted a nearly immediate spike in oil prices, which jumped $3 per barrel.
John McCain's thunder is officially being stolen in this second Strait of Hormuz "incident".... Hillary Clinton's, too, if she really wants to obliterate Iran from the face of the earth.
Which military contractor will they have to thank for kickstarring this ruinous but profitable war? If not all-out war, it gives McCain and Clinton a convenient talking point to use against Obama's "inexperience."
In the story MSNBC's Jim Miklaszewski reports that:
The ship was contracted by the U.S Military Sealift Command, which delivers supplies to US troops overseas. The showdown involved a cargo ship known as Westward Venture and several Iranian speedboats.
Update: Iran has dismissed these reports as untrue, likely to avoid immediate and fiery death unleashed by Dick Cheney.
Update: Here's a video from the Iranian POV of the Strait of Hormuz incident back on January 6, 2008:
