One of the talking points of the last few days is to challenge(sucker) Senator Obama into more debates. All of us know that the reason they are asking for these debates is to use free media to attack, attack and attack Senator Obama some more. Even in an unmoderated debate, Senator Clinton will take the low road of innuendo, and not so subtle insinuations that appeal to worse angels in people. The freak show enablers are already picking this up.
I would like to use this diary to come up with as many counter talking points as I can. Please help me help the push back.
Consider this the open source counter talking point workshop. I will include a counter point that is already being made for kicks. Mostly, I am hoping we can come up with original counter points.
Counter Point 1:
We already had 21 debates. Senator Obama would like to talk directly to the people.
This point is being made by the Obama team. This is being countered by Senator Clinton's team, saying they had only a few one on one debates.
Counter Point 2:
If Senator Clinton is unable to communicate her message in 21 debates, there is a problem of effective communication. You don't get these many chances as a President to persuade folks.
Counter Point 3:
A President seldom communicates with American people through televised debates. He needs to persuade American people by making effective speeches. We encourage Senator Clinton to effectively reach voters with her speeches, just as she would be expected to do as a President.
Counter Point 4:
In the history of Democratic primaries, we have not had more debates than the number of debates we had in this cycle. (I am not sure about this one, as I could not find a source that lists the number of debates in each primary cycle. I could use some help.)
I am sure there are several more. Please feel free to add your counter points. I hope Senator Obama, does not give Senator Clinton any more chances to lower the discourse.
