I used to consider Howard Fineman of Newsweek one of the best, fairest political reporters in the business. But since Tuesday night, I've noticed a change. I've put together a list of the questions pundits SHOULD be asking.
I'm watching the Tim Russert show replay on MSNBC right now with Howard Fineman of Newsweek and Mike Allen of the Politico. Both of them are going on and on ad nauseum about Obama's failure to win white working-class voters. (He has actually won them in several states including Wisconsin and Virginia.) I'm SICK and TIRED of hearing this. Obama is AHEAD in EVERY count. Not behind. He's AHEAD.
Why aren't they asking...
1). Why can't Hillary win African Americans, the Democrats most loyal base?
2). Why can't Hillary win educated voters?
3). If the West is the new battleground for Democrats, why has Hillary lost most of them including Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Washington State, and Wyoming?
4). Why can't Hillary win in the mid-upper Midwest? To date, she's lost Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas.
5). We always hear Obama can't win blue states the Democrats need in November. Well evidently, neither can she. She's lost Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., Washington State, Hawaii, Vermont, Connecticut, and Delaware.
6). Why can't Hillary win Democrats who have money (the latte sippers)?
7). Why can't Hillary win young voters?
8). No one remembers this, but the Democrats actually carried Colorado, Montana, Georgia, and Missouri in 1992. Who won them, or is likely to win them, in the 2008 primary, again?
9). Why can't Hillary attract the necessary Republicans and Independents the party needs to win in November?
10). Why can't Hillary win the "new battlegrounds" including Colorado, Virginia, and North Dakota?
