The road gets rougher,
It's lonelier and tougher.
With hope you burn up,
Tomorrow he may turn up.
There's just no letup
The livelong night and day.
Looking for the man that got away . . .
Well, let’s hope Obama doesn’t get away, or more like get chased out of town.
Okay. So Obama, and we who are his supporters, have hit a rough patch....Well, to be honest, a shit hole. What could we expect when he has four really nasty opponents running against him: Hillary, McCain, Wright and Fox (not Vicente). After the dictatorial reign of the Evil King GWB we wanted some sanity, intelligence and a "nice guy" in the White House. We really hoped that this time nice guys would not finish last as did the last couple intelligent nice guy Democrats.
It's really kind of a conundrum--how does an intelligent, well educated, nice guy, win in a low brow country like this? How does a good guy get to become President without first having to become a slobbering malevolent SOB to get there? It seems that as soon as you attract a highly favorable following all the jealous bastards out there take aim and start firing. At the moment the Rev. Wright seems to be wielding a bazooka. He is only interested in keeping his own narcissistic agenda going, couldn't really care less about what happens to Obama, or the country for that matter, or "his" people either. I guess Daddy doesn't want his son to do better than himself. Jealousy is an ugly thing. However, in the case of GHWB he didn't have to worry about baby Bush. Weren't gonna happen, no how.
Oh well, Barack, that's what happens when you think you have to pander to the "religious" to get elected and you mix religion and politics. All the born again crazies come out of the woodwork. And Fox gets to go into feeding frenzy mode for their totally irrational audience...which seems to be a good portion of the country since Bush came along.
Pissed off and disappointed again. Had high hopes for an intelligent campaign that would address some horrifically important issues. But we are getting the same old stuff--only worse. Can't decide to be an idealist or a cynic. Leaning toward cynic at the moment.
