For all of us, we have heard of Bush's fuzzy math! For more than the obvious, we have an idiot who cannot tell that he has single handedly wrecked the U.S. economy, but I would not say that he has a clue!
Still, from our democratic candidates, we hoped that they would be able to do better than Grorge Bush! Alas, this is where the story gets interesting...
I am fortunate that I am near completion of my Bachelor's Degree and my Accounting & Economics 101 class seemed perplexed by my report of how a Preseidential Candidate can make the following assertion, without retraction or correction.
While perusing through the blog world, and seeing who said what about whom and educating my son about the fears of the uninformed, I ran across this story.
Clinton Chief Strategist Says $20 Million More than $40 Million
Now I dismissed this as pure satire, but upon reading the story and reseraching it thoroughly, this guy was serious!
He stated:
"For starters, there are more zeros in $20 million than in $40 million," Franklin said. "And if you spell it out, $20 million has more letters too."
I know! I know! You are waiting for the <snark> right? But, the mood was described as bewildering and contentious by reporters accounts. So, one would imagine that he would make a correction and dismiss this as an oversight on his part, right?
Here is how the media responded:
Pressed on how there were more zeros in $20 million than in $40 million, Franklin argued that the Clinton campaign had the right to put a decimal with two zeros at the end of their figure, while the Obama campaign had no such right to do so.
There you have it folks! The Clinton campaign has the right to add the decimal point and two zeros. That makes sense, doesn't it? Oh and for you doubters that may not understand the justification of it, here is his final tidbit:
"And we can do this because we’ve won the big states that Democrats must win in November. California, New York, Ohio, Florida - they’re all ours. When Obama wins an important state like that, he too can put a decimal point and two zeros at the end of his contribution totals.
So, the next time you go to the store, you should understand that if you live in a big state (won by Clinton), you can add a decimal point and two zeros to $20 and it will equate to more than $40, in the Clinton economic definition!

I wonder how this will play out, now that the estimates for her March intake have been lowered to $7 Million? Is that still more zeros than $40 Million without the decimal point and the two zeros?
Unbelievable!
