Over the past 8 months the administration continues to launch trial baloon storylines to go all-in and invade Iran. This seems to be the insane Neo-con wet dream.October suprise and Control of the Oil. The first try was right before the last NIE report came out and it sure seemed like it was inevitable.
But then something odd happened...reality went off script and much to the chagrin of Dick Cheney, every single thing he was asserting was contradicted by the actual Intelligence agencies. It was a complete shut out.The public and congress seemed to understand the administration was mistaken. Well, they solved that problem by not letting the public see the next NIE.
With Cheney's impeccable sense of the American attention deficit, (Whatever happened with those nice Blackwater guys anyway?) he has been playing up Iranian influence in Iraq. Apparently the fiercely nationalist Sadr is an Iranian puppet and Malaki is not at all aligned with Iran according to the latest reality re-write.
Iran has been accused recently of supplying weapons in Iraq.
The LA Times reports:
Iraqi officials also have accused Iran of meddling in violence and had echoed the U.S. accusations of new Iranian-made arms being found in Basra. But neither the United States nor Iraq has displayed any of the alleged arms to the public or press, and lately it is looking less likely they will. U.S. military officials said it was up to the Iraqis to show the items; Iraqi officials lately have backed off the accusations against Iran.
A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was canceled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran. A U.S. military spokesman attributed the confusion to a misunderstanding that emerged after an Iraqi Army general in Karbala erroneously reported the items were of Iranian origin.

It seems to me we are being spoonfed our next batch of lies, and reality keeps intervening. I just hope that we can run out the clock on this administration's insanity. It is past time for disenabling the Bush Doctrine. Congress must realize it's power and stop the planned Iranian conquest. It is very much on the table, and anyway, I am sick of bus and table analogies. It is time to realize we are winning as democrats and we will only keep winning by asserting our power, not cowering to political expediency and a wait til we are in the White House mindset. The consequence of capitulation to George & Company is a total regional war that will bankrupt us and enrich the Oil giants.
By the way, before they own all the wealth in the universe, it is time to nationalize the oil companies and make us all stockholders. I'll see you when they let me out of Gitmo.
