Are you going to let a terrorist tell you how to vote?
John McCain thinks you should.
In attacking Senator Obama, here is what John McCain said:
"I think it is very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States. If Senator Obama is favored by Hamas, I think people can make judgments accordingly."
Just so you know, McCain is basing this attack on a comment made by Ahmed Yousef, a representative of Hamas. Here is what Yousef said:
"We like Mr. Obama and we hope that he will win the election. I do believe that Mr. Obama is like John Kennedy, a great man with great principles. He has a vision to change America, to make it in a position to lead the world community, but not with domination and arrogance."
Finally, here is what The New York Times concluded about McCain’s charges:
"An examination of Mr. Obama’s numerous public statements on the subjects indicates that he has consistently condemned Hamas as a "terrorist organization," has not sought the group’s support (see footnote) and does not advocate immediate, direct or unconditional negotiations with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president. In 2006, he, like Mr. McCain, was a co-sponsor of the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act, which called on "members of the international community to avoid contact with and refrain from financially supporting the terrorist organization Hamas." Bottom line: there is virtually no difference between the positions taken by Obama and McCain on this issue. Yet McCain is out there trying to use old-style politics to scare you into voting for him.
Not exactly "straight-talk," is it?
So, I ask again: Are you going to let a terrorist tell you how to vote?
This time, I actually agree with McCain: "I think people can make judgments accordingly."
(Footnote: As contrasted, say, with McCain's solicitation of support from Pastors Hagee and Parsley!)
