Hillary supporters, as much as you want to believe that Hillary will win, it won't happen. She will not make it legal for people in England to vote. She won't go back in time and stop the Louisiana Purchase. It just won't happen. So, as a Hillary supporter, I ask everyone to come back to the Daily Kos, and to write about how to beat John McCain. Clinton supporters who boycotted the website because of it's leaning towards Obama should start reuniting with the party. Hillary can not win the Democratic Nomination.
It will be a long drawn out fight for the Presidency in November. No doubt the Republican Party spin machine will come out with an outlandish ad about Obama's possible secret ties to Muslims. Which will no doubt prolong, this kind of attitude:
"I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife’s an atheist,"
McCain will almost definitely carry the interior of the country. The swing state polls are frightening, yet close. We could see a decisive victory for one candidate, but with very slim margins won in states.
This is some of what we can expect from John McCain
But the latest poll numbers bear mixed news. Sure, Barack is in the lead in Iowa, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, New York and even nationally, but what is worrying is this:
RCP Average - Florida 03/15 - 04/29 -- 49.0 40.0 McCain +9.0
RCP Average - Ohio 04/08 - 04/29 -- 45.7 42.3 McCain +3.4
PPP - North Carolina(D) 05/08 - 05/09 616 LV 49 42 8 McCain +7.0
Some of these polls may, and probably will bump up when Obama receives the nomination, but by how much?
Another pivotal role in the nominating process will be Obama's choice of Vice President. Obama has four solid choices for veep:
- Jim Webb, senator from Virginia, also a decorated Vietnam veteran and a resourcful man who can win our countries racists.
- Wesley Clark, possibly the best candidate running, but he is shifty in front of cameras. He is very smart, and would be great in the cabinet, if not veep.
- Tedd Strickland, brings experience, and can help Obama win Ohio, which is a major prize.
- Hillary Clinton, although many of us do not think she would accept, there is no doubt she would broaden Obama's voter base, especially among women.
We need to do all we can to reverse those numbers. The bitterness must stop, and we must all volunteer. John McCain wants to make himself a messiah, spreading the message of no negativity, but we need to convince the ever-elusive working white class voters that he is not a secret muslim, or that he agrees with what Reverend Wright says. Michigan and Florida will be especially key. They were thrust aside by the democratic party earlier, and now play a key role in the General Election.
So, I call for democrats everywhere to come, read the facts, and join, tell your friends. And Hillary, as bad as it may seem, lets get moving.
