The problem with the solutions proposed so far for seating Michigan and Florida delegates is continuing unfairness to large numbers of voters.
The Michigan voters who would have voted for Obama but couldn't.
The thousands of voters in both states who stayed home because they'd been told that their primary wouldn't count won't be heard, either. I've read that the turnout in Florida and Michigan failed to follow the huge surge in all the other Dem primaries.
But maybe there's a way...
A very simple way
Conduct large-scale polls in the two states. Polls can easily reach a 95% confidence level of accuracy, and with a little more investment, 99%.
The thing about polls right now is that they would catch the moods of voters as of now, not ages ago before Obama was a known player as in Florida or not noticed because he was off the ballot in Michigan.
The media have been pretty well saturated with information, so voters should be better informed (or influenced) by now.
The polls could reflect the nature of the primaries: if a closed primary, just poll Dems. If open, sample all voters.
If you know somebody at the DNC or the campaigns, forward this notion. Could be the most fair thing to do for the most important people concerned.
That would be us...the voters.
