We all figured Hillary would win West Virginia, but none of us figured she would score a stunning blowout ACROSS EVERY AGE GROUP, SEX, AND INCOME BRACKET. This was supposed to be the "racist poor white crackers for Hillary" primary. What happened?
In two words: Jeremiah Wright. Obama didn’t put this disaster behind him in his Important Speech On Race in Philadelphia, and he sure didn’t put it behind him when he was forced to disown Wright after the good preacher not only restated all of his racist, hateful views at the NAACP and NPC forums, but EXPANDED on them.
White voters were willing to accept Obama’s denials and explanations in the Philadelphia speech, but seeing Wright and his subsequent performances were just too much. After the NAACP and NPC performances, it became painfully clear that Obama’s Philadelphia speech was a sham, and that Obama was flat-out lying about never having heard that kind of racist hate speech from Wright before – especially when it was learned that Oprah Winfrey quit Wright’s racist Black Nationalist "church" in 1995! If Oprah heard it and left, why not Obama? To top it off, now it comes to light that Barack Obama graced the covers of Jeremiah Wright’s "Trumpet" magazine – a magazine Obama would only have to leaf through to see some of Wright's racist Black Nationalist bile in full display.
Barack Obama began this campaign a true hope for change we can believe in, and as what seemed at the time a truly inclusive change agent that could bring about real cooperation and healing after eight years of the Bush disaster. Unfortunately, we are all products of our pasts and our associations, and none could have been more devastating to Barack Obama than Jeremiah Wright. There is just no way to explain away twenty years of close association with this man and his organization, and that is why we’re seeing what we’ve seen yesterday; Obama’s Black Nationalist ties are still a problem.
