I'm sure I'm not the first, and I certainly won't be the last, to predict that Obama will be #44 (Thanks in LARGE PART to Howard Dean!). After all the events of today, I feel like we can FINALLY come out and prognosticate the general this fall...more below...
Sorry, I'm not very meticulous with sourcing things, I just want to spout off my opinion and my prognostications here.
I see Obama picking Bill Richardson as his running mate. That covers the "experience" vote, that covers the "Hispanic" vote, it covers the this and the that vote, too, I'm sure.
All this hand wringing about Rev. Wright, Hillary's continued delusional playing of the race card, among other things...this is a truly historic election, but not because of Obama/Richardson winning easily (I'll say 56-44% nationally or HIGHER), but because downticket, I'm guessing the Dems pick up at least 5 senators now, and a few more in 2010 (PLEASE get rid of that douche Sen. Martinez here in FL...BLECCH).
With Trent Lott's seat going to a Dem today, the third major seat of special contests, I think we are looking at another 15 to 20 in the house (that's IF Debbie Wasserman-Shultz will stop pandering to the terrible trio down here in Miami and support some PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS, like Joe Garcia).
I also just want to say that an Obama victory will be the greatest FOREIGN POLICY jump we can make. The world will see the US electing a black man and they will say "FINALLY" the US is PROGRESSING. Who doesn't know that we are one of the most racist countries in the world?
Last, but certainly not least...I see 16 years AT LEAST of Democratic presidents, meaning THE SUPREME COURT WILL BE RIGHTED!!! This, above all, makes me feel real good about all of today's events. Let Hillary have a seat on the court. That would be FUN.
OK, I'm not the most articulate writer at Kos (too lazy), but I needed to make these points. Please feel free to use this diary to prognosticate about your Senator and Congresscritter.
