Columnist Kathleen Parker wrote one of the nastiest columns I've read in a while. Called "Getting Bubba," she quotes a voter as saying he's planning on voting for John McCain because unlike Obama, McCain is a full blooded American! <http://www.jewishworldreview.com/kathleen/parker051408.php3?printer_friendly>
A recent article by a columnist named Kathleen Parker says that American politicians (read: Democrats) are caught up in multiculturalism which "real Americans" just don't like.
In my previous diary, I wrote about illegal immigration and a lot of you thought I was a closet conservative. I still don't like illegal immigration. I believe it denigrates our system of laws.
However, I draw the line when I hear people talking about who is a "real American." Three of my grandparents came from Italy. According to the article, I guess a lot of people wouldn't consider me a "full blooded American." Both of my parents were born in the US. My father fought in WWII. He was proud of being an American. If anyone had suggested he wasn't a full blooded American, he would have let them know exactly what he thought!
According to this article, Hilary Clinton's superior DNA is what makes her understand "real Americans." Considering she came to this startling realization fairly recently, perhaps there's a problem with stupidity being part of that DNA.
Here's the best part. The article apperars in THE JEWISH TIMES! I can't help but wonder what the editors were thinking. The article celebrates small mindedness. When someone says they are planning to vote for McCain because he's a "full blooded American," I can only shake my head in dismay. It's a good thing he never had to live in an Eastern city. He would be horrified at city councils replete with African Americans,Latinos, Jews, Poles, Czechs, Italians and more. And, get this - they MARRY each other. Oh, lawsy, I just may faint. Help me, Miss Scarlett!
