As has been said in Hillaryland:
What I think it comes down to with many of my fellow HRC supporters, especially women, is the following: They just experienced a long process in which a more qualified woman was passed over for a promotion in favor of a man who is arguably unqualified for this job
An overabundance of sexism is not what cost Hillary Clinton the Democratic nomination. If anything, a lack of it did.
In exit poll after exit poll, we see roughly a 55-45 margin in favor of women in the Democratic electorate. If 100% of those people were sexist and decided based on gender, Hillary Clinton would win every state.
Let's look at Indiana's CNN exit poll (I choose Indiana because it was a very close contest, so that the rising-tide doesn't affect the percentages). First let's look at the question "Was gender of candidate important to you?" Of all voters, 16% said yes to that question. Two thirds of them, women. Of those women, Clinton held a 16% advantage. There was not a high enough percentage of men to have a big enough sample for CNN to post their results to the question, but overall, Clinton held an 18% advantage in people who said gender was important... thus men who voted on the basis of gender ACTUALLY PREFERRED CLINTON OVER OBAMA BY A HIGHER MARGIN THAN WOMEN.
Let's now look at the race issue in the same exit poll. "Was race of candidate important to you?" Of all voters, 16% (again) said yes. Of those 16%, Clinton again held an advantage - 6% this time.
So, why didn't Hillary win? Well, there are lots of reasons, but one of them is that sexist and/or racist people do not dominate the Democratic Party.
And that is a good thing.
