I am pondering the idea that HRC doesn't even want FL/MI decided.
If you thought Obama could not win in November but had not been able to convince either a majority of elected OR superdelegates that you were a better candidate, what would you want?
"I'm in this until there is a nominee"...
...how do you get a nominee?
With a number 50% +1.
If there is no defined 100% you can't figure 50%.
If you want to continue to argue that Obama can not win in November and have the chance to win people over to that view, what do you need?
TIME.
And attacks.
And doubt.
If she can keep the question of the nominee open all summer she has her time.
McCain and the Republican 527s will provide the attacks.
Wimpy Dems will probably supply the doubt.
A self-critical comment about our Dkos community. It becomes sort of an echo chamber at times. We reinforce and strengthen our commitments. We build a common identity. We reassure each other and allay our doubts.
This is good and bad. But certainly necessary once a decision is made.
If there no decision there will be no common bonds. Doubts will fester rather than be allayed.
Daring and bold moves by Obama will strike fear into many.
HRC will be able to work every doubt and fear into more delegates.
Handwringing? Maybe. But to me a plausible scenario and one to be avoided at all costs.
