Let’s take a look for a moment at the possibility that Hillary is right and that the Super-Delegates agree with her and make her the nominee. Let’s look at the results:
- Obama receive the most delegates in elections (primaries and caucuses) by following the rules of the game set out at the start of the contest. There are protests by people who are sticklers for the rules of the game.
- African-Americans will feel that their candidate has been cheated out of the nomination by a Democratic Party insider. The lack of a large turnout of the AA vote will hurt the part up and down the ticket.
- The new investors in the Democratic Party will go back to indifference. I’d guess that about ½ of Obama’s 1.5 million small contributors were not active in the Democratic Party before Obama’s run for the presidency.
- Republicans are unified as never before as they unite to defeat what they perceive to be the political "Satan" in the Clinton’s. This election turn’s into an anti-Clinton election on the Republican side.
- Anti-War Dem’s are defeated and sent back to the back of the bus and given "Tin Foil Hat" status once again.
All in all, these cannot be positive development for the party. I’d like to see Hillary supporters address these points when promoting their choice for the nomination. I know similar thoughts have been in diaries before, but I have not seen them addressed by Hillary supporters.
Anyone?
