This story, from McClatchy's blog, Nukes & Spooks put a smile on my face. It seems we're to the public mocking stage of the Bush administration. I'm hoping the stockades and rotten tomatoes come next!
...an unknown Bush administration politico ordered historic diplomatic photographs removed from a hall leading to the department's main cafeteria. They were replaced with huge color glossies extolling the diplomatic feats of President Bush, First Lady Laura Bush and SecState Condoleezza Rice.
...Outside the State Department's press briefing room on the department's 2nd floor hang large official photos of Bush, Rice and Vice President Dick Cheney. The pictures were, er ... modified by persons unknown. (We did not personally witness this, we must admit -- or we'd have a photo to post). We're talking fake mustaches and the like. The defacements were promptly cleaned up. They reappeared.
I love hearing that the, I assume, non-political government employees at the State Dept. are showing open derision for this administration. They know that the Bushies and their cronies are on their way out and are emboldened by it.
For me, this was a ray of sunshine in a somewhat gloomy day. Hope it brightened yours as well.
h/t to the indispensable Think Progress for pointing me to this story.
