It's quite remarkable that an individual who possess such amazing intellect could stoop to the lowest forms of humanity by invoking the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy as a reason to carry on with a Presidential campaign that has little to no hope of winning. The remarks by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton were not only ghoulish but offers us a glimpse into an individual, who contrary to her belief, isn't fully prepared to be commander-in-chief, or even Vice President.
Senator Clinton's consistent theme throughout this historic election season is that she has the neccessary experience to lead this nation out of the nightmare that is George W. Bush's Presidency. That she has been tested and ready to meet every challenge that awaits. That she and John McCain will offer a lifetime of experience and Senator Barack Obama will offer just a speech he made in 2002.
You might ask, what experience is she offering?
What could possibly make her more experienced than her other opponents, even more so than Senator John McCain?
What had she done in the Senate to make her head and shoulders above the rest?
In 2002, Senator Hillary Clinton was the face of the Democratic Party. And as the face of the opposition she should've made an urgent plea to the American people to say no to the Iraq War Resolution. To urge the fathers and mothers of soldiers who would eventually be put in harm's way, that under no circumstances would we send our sons and daughters to fight in Iraq, based on intelligence that is beyond flimsy. No, Senator Clinton, the face of the Democratic party in 2002, did not make that speech. She chose to follow the leader. To spew the same talking points that were coming out of the White House.
Yet, her consistent theme throughout this campaign is that she was the experience to lead this nation. And that she has been put to the test, thus making her qualified for the highest office in the land.
What Senator Clinton has been running on is the success of her husband's Presidency. The peace and prosperity of the 1990's. The yearning of those who want to go back to the America that knew when Bill Clinton was President. Since Bill Clinton cleaned up the mess that George H.W. Bush made, it's up to Hillary to clean up the even bigger mess that George W. Bush.
Nostalgia was the underlining theme of Hillary Clinton's campaign. Her camp played off the yearning for the Clinton years, thus gaining a ton of votes along the way.
A rational and critical thinking person will tell you that by using Hillary Clinton's argument of experience, that she, the Junior Senator of New York, has no experience whatsoever. And to run on a person's resume. A person's successful run as President, shows that the individual is not only unqualified for the position, but really, REALLY, dangerous.
And that's where today's mindblowing comments come into play.
The invoking of Robert Kennedy's assassination proves that Senator Clinton doesn't have the experience, nor maturity to take on the duties as the commander-in-chief. It also proves my theory that should she take on those duties, she would make a terrible President.
The invoking of Robert Kennedy's assassination offers us a glimpse into the mindset of a politician, who is completely overwhelmed by the thought that someone, anyone, but her, is just within striking distance of securing the Democratic nomination for President.
Senator Clinton believed, as did many of her surrogates, that this nomination was owed to her. That no one, not anyone, including Barack Obama, or even Al Gore, could derail her attempt at being President of the United States. But Mrs. Clinton and her minions in Hillaryland failed to take notice of the sea change that is happening today. Those who gave their support for the now infamous Iraq War resolution are paying a price politically.
If indeed Senator Obama were to lose in Novemeber to John McCain (which is not out of the realm of possibility. Yet it's something we don't relish) Senator Clinton would automatically be the frontrunner in 2012. That according to the pundits. Yet, even before today's ghoulish statements, Mrs. Clinton has drawn up such negative feelings towards her that to secure the nomination in 2012, would be next to impossible. Now, with today's comments, Mrs. Clinton's chances of becoming President are finished. Even if she offers a mea culpa, the negative feelings towards her will never subside.
It's time for the superdelegates to put an end to this. They've waited in the sidelines for too long and today's heinous remarks from Hillary Clinton proves that. There's no justification to keep this process continuing as it is. Swift action is required. End this thing tomorrow, if not, do it tonight! We can't continue to watch a once groundbreaking figure reduced to a sad, pathetic parody.
