Real quick... Nevada Governor Jim "Cocktail Candidate" Gibbons and his wife Dawn Gibbons is currently going through a nasty divorce here in Nevada. He moved out of the Governors Mansion to his home 30 minutes away in Reno and his wife Dawn stayed in the Mansion pretty much refusing to leave. We finally have the juicy details in the form of a motion filed by Dawn's Lawyer, Cal Dunlap.
In a scathing 30-page legal brief challenging the sealing of the divorce case, first lady Dawn Gibbons accused her husband, Gov. Jim Gibbons, of trying to end their marriage because of an infatuation with another woman and systematically deceiving the public about his reasons for seeking the divorce.
In the brief filed Wednesday, Dawn Gibbons' lawyer Cal Dunlap accuses the governor of hiding behind a state law that allows one party in a divorce to have the proceedings sealed, while he "makes false and misleading statements to the public he serves" about his divorce and his use of "public property and resources."
...
He accuses Gibbons of being involved and infatuated with an unnamed woman, the wife of a Reno physician, whom he describes as being a "marital intruder" who has "for years stalked the man who could give her the public persona and prestige that apparently she craves."
...
In a brief interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal earlier this month, Jim Gibbons denied being romantically involved with a woman named Kathy Karrasch, who is married to a Reno podiatrist.
"We've been friends for 15 years," he said.
The interview was spurred by repeated calls and e-mails from readers who had seen Jim Gibbons and Karrasch together in public settings over the past several weeks.
Asked if he had any romantic involvement with Karrasch, he answered: "No. Absolutely not."
Repeated attempts to reach Karrasch at home and by telephone were unsuccessful Wednesday.
Jim Gibbons was seen having dinner with Karrasch and three other people May 10 at the Atlantis Sky Terrace Oyster and Sushi Bar. He also attended the Galena High School play on May 1 to see Karrasch's daughter perform.
Although he attended the play alone, he spent the second half standing with Karrasch in the back of the room while she filmed her daughter, according to video footage provided to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
Gibbons' spokesman Ben Kieckhefer said the governor attended the play at the invitation of an unnamed neighbor.
Karrasch lives a few blocks away from the Gibbonses' Reno home.

Jim Gibbons denies affair with doctor's wife
Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons denied Thursday that he’s having an affair despite his estranged wife’s claims that he wants a divorce because of his involvement with another woman.
"Absolutely not, absolutely not," Gibbons said when asked whether he’s having an affair with a woman separated from her husband, a Reno doctor. While not mentioning the woman’s name, the governor said, "It’s been a friendly relationship over all these years."
"And this is not something that I really feel that the public really ought to be involved in. This is really painful to go through, a process like this," Gibbons, 63, said at a news conference, referring to his Washoe County Family Court divorce proceedings that he’s trying to keep private.
"I’m very sorry to the public that this has to be foisted upon their shoulders," the governor said of first lady Dawn Gibbons’ claims. "It shouldn’t be. It’s unnecessary and it’s untrue, and unfortunately it’s very harmful to my family."
