I know there are a ton of diaries going out on how we need to "coax" Clinton supporters into our tent and all that, but it's not over until she says it's over. Don't kid yourselves, we'll need their vote, and nobody likes being told by their enemies to come join our side. They are very passionate about their candidate, just as much as we are with ours. If Hillary Clinton had the delegate lead and the math now, it would be the LAST thing I want that they tell us "Obama peeps, we want and need you to come to our side now, let's stand together."
A bit more below:http://http://
Remember who our candidate is: Barack Obama. This candidate is NOT about divisions, gotcha techniques, blind partisanship, etc. This candidate is about genuine RESPECT for the United States of America. As his most loyal fans, we need to show our mettle as a community NOT interested in smearing the other side, but for WORKING OUR BUTTS OFF to get this man elected. In the end, what gets everyone around our man is not divisions or bullying, but PERSUASION. And how do you best persuade your temporary enemies that are, in fact, your blood brothers and sisters, as people who do NOT want four more years of George W. Bush? You show MORE passion in your candidate than they do. You donate more, you campaign harder, you stay together and keep a positive outlook in life. You recognize yourself as one for the community, and not the community for one.
That's what I think Barack Obama is all about. He is one of us, and he would want us to hold him accountable. See, that is the closest embodiment to democracy I think our country has seen in a very long time.
If we show the country this, not only would Clinton supporters join our flock, but Hillary Clinton will become a major player seeking Obama to be the next president of the United States.
Then, we will have a truly unified party ready to romp McCain and the Republicans.
If we stand together and demonstrate to America our campaign is unstoppable, we will prevail with Obama being the nominee of our party (and kicking the ass of whoever has the unfortunate role of being keynote speaker this year), and later, the 44th president of the USA.
Stay strong, stick together, demonstrate leadership. We will all be a little happier in November.
