Hillary gave her website address, and a plea for donations again last night. I was curious if anyone is giving money to Hillary at this point. And if so, why?
It seems to me this race is over. Mathematically. I and a lot of other Obama supporters thought it was over long before yesterday, but the conventional wisdom is catching up.
So I can understand people supporting their candidate and all, but why give money now?
Giving money at this late date just prolongs the primaries, with no real chance of Hillary winning the nomination.
Do you believe there is, like Ron Paul, a Hillary issue that is so different from the Obama cause that it requires a fight to the convention, regardless of costs in party unity? What issue is still driving you -- the gas tax holiday? The right of Michigan and Florida to vote earlier in the primaries next time without penalty?
It seems to me, if you are concerned about the Clintons spending their own money here (and having made $109 million giving speeches, etc., I don't see why you would) -- wouldn't you want to wait until after they concede, so they don't just keep incurring more debt in a lost cause?
Certainly, I can understand the hundreds of thousands of people who donated to her campaign up to now; wanting to support your candidate is at the heart of democracy. At this point, however, If you have your own hard-earned money burning a hole in your pocket, there are a lot of other, worthy causes at this point -- Dr. Dean's DNC is in dire financial straits, and a number of Senate and Congressional candidates need your help. The Red Cross is busy this week and could use the dough.
If you are giving money to Hillary today, I am curious what you think will be accomplished?
