About the most outrageous piece of political hogwash I've ever seen posted on a blog is up on the Huffington Post at this moment. Under the teaser, "Big Rewards Await Clinton If She Drops Out Now," Thomas B. Edsall, political editor of the Huff Po and reputedly a professor of Journalism at Columbia University, asserts in his second paragraph:
One of the most inviting is the near certainty that the Obama campaign would agree to pay back the $11.4 million she has loaned her own bid, along with an estimated $10 million to $15 million in unpaid campaign expenses.

It made me so hot and bothered, I couldn't even pay the gentleman the courtesy of reading the rest of this absurdity. Someone must have diaried this already? I'd be happy to delete!
How can anyone with any semblance of political reasoning dream that after clearly beating an opponent who has not only ceaselessly trashed you but has constantly impugned and dismissed your supporters as fools and uninformed, who has treated the country to an undisguised excercise in shameless race-baiting, will now be "bought off" to the tune of $ 25 millions of dollars contributed by small donors at an average of less than $ 100? I wouldn't dare to think for one moment that Obama would countenance such a shameless and self-defeating act of political duplicity.
For one thing, it would be the first step to having to accept public financing as $ 25 million would go out the door and little would continue to come in its place. I have given to Obama over ten times in small increments as I'm sure thousands of us have, would I ever donate another penny after that, would any of you? James Carville would be laughing his "colones" off and rightly so, as HRC would "drop-out" and continue her delusional quest by other means, literally laughing all the way to the bank.
If that posting isn't labelled "snark" then Columbia University should get the nets out for Mr. Edsall and I apologize for being "personal" in attacking him, but this crosses the line for me. We've all heard enough crapola from "experts" these past weeks to last a lifetime but this makes Rush and Orally look cogent!
