Kamikaze. After the flurry of activities going this week in the Clinton camp, that's the only word that comes to my mind. The unfortunate thing is, while her campaign is mortally hit and can't fly true anymore, she made the decision to crash her Zero into the Democratic fleet instead of the Republican one. And should the whole fleet go down under in November, the dishonor will be hers, and hers alone.
Ok, red-faced Bill too.
It's probably not easy to wake up one day, and realize that for some reasons, the world you're used to live in doesn't turn the same way anymore. Kind of reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode where the meaning of words changed overnight, and a family man had to re-learn how to communicate with the help of his kid's books. The difference between that man and the Clinton campaign is that while totally dumbfounded about what the hell happened, his desire to be one again with his family made him step on his ego, and do what was right.
The Clinton campaign, on the other hand seems to be stuck in a Twilight Zone of its own, trying to make sense of the fact that states that had no business, in its mind, voting for a black candidate, well, did. And the result is a giant "What The Fuck?" that doesn't compute. For the Clinton campaign, it's not part of the True Blue, Blood Red world they know, a world where there is just enough surplus drops of Blue in a few states to be able to redecorate the White House in November, Ned Beatty loving hicks be damned. That's the way it was supposed to be goddamn it, that's the way of the DLC! The T.A.C.T.I.C used was supposed to be the best in the business (The Awesome Clintons Triangulating Inner Circle).
Well, not this time.
One face showed a team, a message, a smile that didn't resonate the way it was supposed to, because that face, that team, that message, that smile told them, the people, trust us, we know better. To the Clinton's campaign surprise, that didn't work as planned. The people heard that message for these past 8 years, and it put the United States Of America on a path where it doesn't belong: Nose-diving into the sea of derision. And people don't like getting laughed at.
The other face showed a team, a message, a smile that resonated with people because that face, that team, that message, that smile told them, the people, that he trusts them to work with him to put the United States Of America back where it belongs: As a healthy, thriving citizen of the world, once again.
That's why Barack Obama is on his way to the White House, because he and his team see the citizens of the United States Of America as a nation they can trust to reach higher for the good of the country. And people have been listening.
There is not a lot of time to gracefully bring the nose of that Zero back up. Land on the carrier instead of crashing into it, Senator Clinton. The people will thank you for it. And Kamikaze, come November, will be served in shot glasses of victory, not crashed campaign of history.
