News has been coming out that a blast within Gaza has killed 7 people including a 4-month-old baby and wounded an additional 50.
Originally, Hamas placed blame on Israel for an airstrike. Israel officials immediately said they had no involvement. Now Hamas has taken responsibility for the blast
The armed wing of Hamas has admitted that a massive explosion in the Gaza Strip on Thursday was caused by militants preparing an armed operation.
Seven people, including a four-month-old baby were killed in the blast, in Beit Lahiya, in the north of the strip.
Hamas had initially blamed the explosion on an Israeli air strike and responded with rocket fire, but Israel denied any involvement.
So why did Hamas place blame on Israel? Did they just not have the correct information and assumed it was an Israeli operation? Or were they trying to place blame on Israel for their own political purposes?
Either way this was not a step in the right direction for Hamas especially with a cease fire being highly considered by Israel
Egypt is currently trying to broker a truce between Israel and Hamas.
Israel said on Wednesday that it would support Egypt's efforts but instructed the army to prepare for possible military action in Gaza if they failed.
