This morning on Fox News Karl Rove told Chris Wallace that not only should Joe Biden be put on Obama's short-list for Vice-Presidential choices, but that Sen. Biden should be chosen. This is a huge blow for supporters of Joe, like myself.
I have always hoped that Barack would select Biden as his running-mate. He is a white, working-class, average guy, with serious foreign policy gravitas. He's an Irish-Catholic, and would help a great deal with folks hesitant about Obama's ability to govern. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania it seems to me Biden would help lock up some more conservative, traditional districts in PA, bringing home the state for the Democrats.
However after today I'm not so sure he'll be chosen. Talking to Wallace, Rove said:
He's got foreign policy experience that is turning out to be a weakness for Obama. And he has gravitas in Washington.
We all know that Rove exemplifies everything that we Democrats hate. He's cold and calculating, secretive and dismissive. The man is slick, sly, and most of all slimy. To think that Obama would take advice from him would be on a track we ought never travel. So today I become more pessimistic about the prospects for an Obama-Biden ticket... But you know what, there may be hope. After saying Biden is his #1 pick the only response from Chris Wallace was a puzzled, "Really?"
While I have of course turned this entire diary into a bit of a hyperbole, it can never help to have Rove on your side. So if your reading this Karl, all I have to say is stop pushing for Biden! Please!
Watch it.
