This is certainly good news for Iowans in flood-affected areas. It is also very good news for interstate transportation and shipping. For an examination of the implications of this flood for national transportation, see SlyDi's excellent diary How a Midwest Flood Can Drag Down a Nation.
I have not heard an update on I-380 between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. That road faces a different situation because it's a bridge over the Iowa River that's causing problems, and because of the Coralville Dam upriver, the flood waters will go down much slower, though they seem to have peaked now.
Water in downtown Cedar Rapids is receding, tho residents were disappointed that they have been unable to re-enter their homes and neighborhoods as soon as had been planned.
Thanks to all who have contributed to the flooding diaries, and to everyone for the many good wishes you have sent.
