I must admit, I love MoveOn.org. I love it because it epitomizes grassroots organization. I love it because it encapsulates how the Democrats have moved from a Clinton dynasty to an Obama-powered organization (evidenced by the fact that MoveOn owes its existence to a few people who got together to tell Congress to censure Bill Clinton for the Lewinsky scandal and "move on", but is now a powerful grassroots organization that has officially endorsed Obama).
But I love it even more because of videos like these, below the fold.
Watch, listen, and learn, folks! I think this is really a great way to spread the message that John McCain and George Bush are cut from the same cloth. McCain won't bring change.
McCain and Bush. One vote away on the Supreme Court. One vote away. Not only that, but there are examples (hopefully someone in the comments can find them) when he was asked about his positions regarding birth control and abortion, and he didn't know! He just laughed it off. He doesn't have his own opinions. He's kneeling at the throne of the fringe right-wing.
On a related story, check out this diary by... well... me, on McCain's anti-American statements.
I told my father, a hard-core rightwing Republican, that Obama recently said that "Sometimes it's tough being proud of your country." He started kvetching, screaming, hollering, swearing out the anti-American comments of Barack Obama. He was rightly embarrased when I revealed the secret under the rug: it was actually MCCAIN who made the "it's tough" statements.
Unfortunately, McCain's statements have gotten NO PLAY in the media. Could you imagine the 24/7 coverage it'd get on FOX if Obama said it's tough being proud of your country, like McCain did?
Anyways, the part of that little diary plug right there is that's the type of things we need to do. Be clever about it. You can't just TELL people that McCain makes anti-American statements. You can't just TELL people that McCain and Bush are brothers in idiocy. John McCain is going to have his cronies and his buddies in the media and his business associates and George Bush himself try to push him into office. It's up to US to PUSH BACK, but, unlike the efforts of our opposition, we shall push back with the TRUTH.
Go forth, spread the word, my minions!
