By now, most people have heard the statement from Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK) that "I still remain very concerned about the (Obama) voting record being the most liberal of the United States Senate. Having said that, I am voting for Democrats this year."
The press took this story and ran with it-making the claim that the Dems weren't uniting behind Obama. Even McCain and his Repug goons thought about using this as an attack against Obama. This was, of course, before that large group of Republican congressmen came forward with their reservations of endorsing McCain.
Apparently this statement wasn't as clear as Rep. Boren had wanted, so today he sent out a statement from his office clarifying his position. More after the fold.
I got this quote from Calvin and Tim Reese on their blog-DemoOkie.com
"Earlier statements I made about the Presidential race have been misunderstood. I thought I was emphasizing I may not agree with Senator Obama on some issues.
I want to make it clear I will vote for our designated nominee at the Democratic Convention and in November.
Senator Obama clearly wants to help middle income people like those in my district struggling to make ends meet. He also wants to help veterans returning from Iraq. Our country clearly needs to move in a new direction."
Dan Boren
Hopefully the media will give this as air time as it did on the original statement. Somehow I doubt it.
