If we want to make sure that the Republicans lose their position as being stronger on National Securtiy forever, then this is the way to start.
MoveOn in cooperation with AFSCME have produced an ad that will begin airing on MSNBC soon. It takes an abstract issue like staying in Iraq for 100 years and puts a face to what that means. Follow the jump for the ad and more.
I don't know if this woman is an actress hired to feign caring for this child, but if she is she should be given some sort of award. If she isn't an actress, then AFSCME and MoveOn picked the perfect person.
She and her son (if they are real) perfectly encapsulate the choices that we have about the future of our country as we move towards the election. She is young, but not too young. She and all the families she represents are the economic engine of our domestic economy. They are the future of our prosperity. They are raising the future citizens of our country. Her question is real, it is now, and the republicans have no answer.
Everyone in America who votes Republican needs to think about the question that this young woman is asking. Do you want the beautiful child that you brought into the world who looks to you for everything with complete trust and faith in your ability to make the right choices for his or her life, do you want them fighting a war 25 or 30 years from now?
Make no mistake if John McCain does, by hook or by crook, becomes the President that is exactly where we will be. With a more entrenched underclass ready to join the Army and risk death or insanity in Iraq or Iran. A nation impovrished to feed the machinery of war. A nation stolen to feed the insaitable thirst of corporate oligarchs. Our nation. Our childrens nation, all of it sold for the ego of a sad, old man.
John McCain, you can't have my Nation.
