Wow. Another day, yet ANOTHER Obama sellout. This time on FISA. From our blowhard corporate candidate and leader of the Democratic party on the outrage that is the Telcom immunity fiasco?
Crickets.
Now we understand the campaign sloganeering of "Change You Can Believe In" ™. Believe in it, just don’t expect to see it happen.
We should have seen this coming when Barack Obama endorsed Bush-enabler John Barrow of Georgia, who when running for re-election ran ads accusing the Democrats (his own party) of looking to "cut and run in Iraq" and was one of the group that demanded Nancy Pelosi allow them to vote for the Cheney and Rockefeller Senate bill providing spying powers without warrant and amnesty to lawbreaking telecommunications companies.
Obama cut radio ads for this creep, despite the fact that Barrow’s opponent, Senator Regina Thomas, was running against Barrow precisely because of "Barrow’s failure to support his constituents against the encroachments of powerful Big Business interests."
We can’t say we didn’t see it coming. The only surprise is the suddenness of the sellouts: NAFTA, Campaign Finance Reform, and now FISA. Obama’s batting one thousand.
Obama sits out the tough votes and suddenly loses his vaunted, soaring eloquence the minute REAL leadership is called for. Add this FISA fiasco to Obama’s 130 "present" votes.
Obama will not get another goddamn dime until he shows some leadership and stops selling out our Democratic party and values.
