In another astonishing report on the Huffington Post, find the full article here, untitled diary, I am astounded to hear that the Bush Administration has been funding a broadcasting nework that airs Anti-American and Anti-Israeli programs, as well as Pro-Iranian programs.
The saddest thing about this, however, isn't the fact that nearly $500 million dollars of taxpeayers money has funded this, or that fact that it is ANTI-AMERICAN. but what i see to be the most embarrassing and utterly depressing fact is that we are not surprised. we aren't surprises that our president airs anti-American propaganda, we aren't surprised that we are paying for it, but we are surprised when we get attacked. Imagine if in the days of Eisenhower, the American people learned that his administration was airing pro-Soviet programs. as John Dean writes in Conservatives Without Conscience, this administration has no conscience.
This propganda technique reminds me of McCain's advisor Charlie Black pointing out that a terror attack on the US is an advantage for his campaign. These Republicans continue to prove that the interests of the country as a whole do not even register as a possible motive for the things they do. they want power. These Republicans essentially are authoritarians, again as John Dean wrote. I actually consider it an insult that McCain expects Obama to respect a republican campaign.
I know there is no point is ranting here, as the majority of you readers aggree with me, but this kind of news sparks one(a rant) in me that does not easily wane. I'm just glad that most of the authoritarians will be expelled in just a couple of months. for now i still trust the democratic system and the American people. that is unless McCain wins and all the close elections go to the Repubs. in that case I'm going to Ireland, withdrawing from politics and learning how to speak Irish.
(i know it's pretty much the same language)
