This could possibly her best speech ever if it addresses unity and will be a real test to her leadership.
This has been the most exciting race in our nation's history. I've had some tough adversaries in my career. But I have never run against someone who inspires me. That was the hardest part of running against Senator Obama. Sometimes, I even forgot myself and said "Fired Up, Ready To Go".
A lot of you have poured your hearts and energy and time and resources into my candidacy, and I thank you for your sacrifices. There are so many people to thank tonight than I have time. But I want to thank my friend and sister, Stephanie Tubb Jones and many in the African-American community who stood by me regardless of the odds and the adversities. They are heroes.
For those who made a different decision, I want to assure you from the depth of my heart that I perfectly understand how difficult it was to choose between a sister and a brother. Trust me; I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Because of you, Barack was able to achieve what he has achieved. So you too are heroes.
Let's not pretend. We've hurt each other in different ways throughout this primary, by the things we've said about one another. But let us remember that we are one family and put it all behind so the healing can begin. I promise to do my part and hope you do too.
The Republican Party has been feeding off the disagreement within our Party, sometimes even fueling it. The same people who have attacked me for decades have suddenly become sympathetic to my cause and to the women who support my candidacy. If Senator Obama had lost the nomination, the Republican Party would've suddenly become best buddies with African-Americans. Don't be fooled! They're after one thing alone - your votes. But I've got news for them - after tonight, Democrats will unite against the failed policies of George W. Bush and his heir apparent, John McCain.
We're going to have a clear choice in the fall. I'm on the side of ending the war in Iraq, providing Universal Healthcare to millions of Americans, ending tax breaks to the wealthy few and to companies that ship jobs overseas and preserving a woman's right to choose. This is what America needs, but not what John McCain is offering. Anyone who has supported me, but is considering voting for McCain, should note that they will be on the opposing side and they will be working against me. You cannot support me so passionately, then turn around and fight me.
I will not watch this Party that my husband and I love so much and have given so much, go down. The Republican Party cannot be rewarded for orchestrating the most disastrous Foreign Policy and Economic Policy in a generation.
Now, there are some who have said I'm a woman who wants to be in charge, that I've waited for this a long time, therefore I will never accept to be anybody's number 2. To them I say - Try me!
I have one last piece of advice for my friend, John McCain - You have no idea what's about to hit you. Once Barack Obama is through with you, you'll be looking older than your 86 year old mother.
