When you hit your head on the glass ceiling what kind of bruise does it leave?
Well, it's not going to happen. No woman President. Probably not in my lifetime.
Is America "ready" for a President who is a woman? According to CBS, 55% say "yes." 55%! Seriously, what does it take to be "ready?" If we aren't ready now, we never will be.
According to recent article in RealClearPolitics: "The record suggests that if Clinton is not the nominee, no woman will seriously contend for the White House for another generation. This was the outcome of the 1984 Geraldine Ferraro experiment. After 24 years, Ferraro remains the only woman ever to run for national office on a major party ticket. And she was selected, not elected, as a vice presidential candidate."
So most US Presidents are Governors. So who's in the training ground? Twenty-nine women have been or are currrently a governor--EVER. None from the largest states--except Texas. Once. And she lost re-election to George W. Bush. Only eight women are currently serving as governor. Looking at current female office holders in non-governor state-wide offices (Lt. Govenor, Attorney General, Secretary of State), the pool is thin--10 of 50 Lt. Govs, 4 AGs, 12 SOSs.
My head hurts.
