Towards the end of her speech tonight, Hillary Clinton encouraged everyone to log onto her website and tell her what we think. Below is what I posted in that webform. I'm sure she'll never read it, and I don't feel any better for having written it. But DAMNIT am I angry right now.... Regardless of my feelings for her (which, honestly, have turned from cool to lukewarm over the past year), I simply cannot respect her political sense after this speech.
Maybe she'll run for the nomination of the Connecticut for Lieberman party...
"You lost this primary, and you just stood on national television and let your supporters chant "Denver!" after OUR PARTY had determined its nominee. You can't win-- all you can do now is hurt the party, and you just did a hell of a job of that. Why hint that you won the popular vote when you won't be the nominee? Why underscore that you won the swing states when you won't be the nominee? Why not say ANYTHING about McCain, who is the actual opponent of your ideals and pet policies? Why steal the limelight from our nominee? Why even bother saying you want a unified party when you're going to spend your entire speech undermining Barack Obama? It's weird, over the past 16 months I went from hating you irrationally, to defending you against things my friends said, to nearly volunteering for your campaign. And now, you've yanked me all the way back to hatred. Way to shoot us all in the foot."
