Everyone down in Bush-ville liked Freedom a lot,
But the Bush, who lived in Northwest DC, did not!
The Bush hated Freedom! Our rights he was freezin'!
Now, please don't ask why. It's depressing, the reason.
It could be that his head wasn't screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that he wasn't too bright.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.
But whatever the reason, his brain or his chest,
He stood in Northwest DC, hating the rest,
Staring down from his manse that sour Bushy smirk'd
At all of that Freedom that below him lurk'd
For he knew everyone down in Bush-ville beneath
Was exercising that Freedom, the bit in their teeth,
"And they're speaking out 'gainst us!" he snarled with a sneer.
"Tomorrow it must stop! It must end, d'you hear?"
Then he growled, with his Bush-y nerves nervously singing,
"I MUST find a way to keep Freedom from ringing!"
For tomorrow, he knew, all the good girls and boys
Would wake up bright and early, would 'joy Freedom like toys,
And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise!
Those voices he hated! The NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!
Then those ones, young and old, would speak out strong, not weak.
And they'd speak! And they'd speak! And they'd SPEAK! SPEAK! SPEAK! SPEAK!
They would start on that Plame thing, and move on to Rove,
Which made the Bush feel hot, like he was on a stove!
And then they'd do something he liked least of all!
Everyone down in Bush-ville, the big and the small,
Would stand close together, with Freedom bells ringing,
They'd stand hand-in-hand, and to Freedom keep clinging
They'd cling! And they'd cling! And they'd CLING! CLING! CLING! CLING!
And the more the Bush heart of the Rest Freedom-ing
The more the Bush thought, "I must stop this whole thing!
Why I cannot get my way, no way, no how,
If this Freedom-thing keeps us. I'll stop it! But how?"
Then he got an idea! An awful idea!
The Bush got a wonderful, rare awful idea!
"I know just what to do!" The Bush laughed in his room.
And he made a quick 'ppointment to the S'preme Court, one of doom.
And he chuckled, and smirked, "What a great Bush-y trick!
Just wait till I get Laura to 'splain it to Dick!
Now just confirmation!" And Bush looked around.
But the Senate's not playing; 'twas none to be found.
Did that stop that old Bush? No! Bush simply said,
"If I can't make the law, I'll just break it instead!"
So he called his Gonzalez, and set him speechifying
To confuse that ol' Press, and start Freedom dying.
Then he gathered some issues--ANWR and the war,
Fallujah, Alito, Terrists to the max--
Then he thought up some more,
And he made up some facts
Then the Bush said, "Giddyap!"
And the shitstorm came down
Toward the homes where the rest
Stood a-freedoming 'round.
All their voices were raised. Their signs filled the air.
All the Rest who were 'joying their Freedom out there
When Bush's storm showed up to make all them despair.
"This is stop number one," The old Bush-y storm hissed,
And went to grab Freedom in its greedy fist.
