I write this diary from the floor of the Texas Democratic Party state convention feeling quite a bit disapponted in our Presidential nominee. You see, on Memorial Day Barack gave a speech in Las Cruces, NM to a group of veterans one of whom is a Texas state delegate supporting him, and asked the senator whether he would be attending Texas state convention (June 5-7). His answer was a resouding "YES". Well here I am, second day into the convention with our national delegates elected, the atmosphere of the convention winding down and guess what? Still no Barack. Sometimes I question the strategy of the national campaign for the most part ignorning my home town of El Paso, the 5th largest city in Texas, while his campaign found time for him to visit every other podunk city in the state. El Paso is one of the best Democratic strongholds in the state and Hillary found time to make it to my town, Bill came 3 times and Chelsea at least twice. It showed in the vote with Senator Clinton garnishing 70% of the primary vote and 75% support in our precinct caucuses. We got our asses kicked and trust me when I say it wasn't because of lack of enthusiam among our volunteers.
6:16 p.m. June 6 , and my friend and fellow delegate who heard from Barack himself that he'd be here seems to be coming to the realization he might not show. She has look on her face like someone took a shit in her purse. Oh well, I just "HOPE" that El Paso isn't deprived of his presence during the general election campaign or McBush might actually have a chance here. That thought makes me cringe. Something else that also makes me feel sad is the ease at which Hillary supporters in my Senate District say they won't support the nominee if its not Hillary.
