While having a discussion on nuclear energy, it came to my realization that for whatever efforts we expound upon Obama being a good candidate we are not thinking of him as a president.
Being President will involve a lot of very tough decisions and ones that I think he will be able to make. But we cannot confuse good, with just, or moral. Every President has had to deal with something.
Whether it be Carter's choice to send Marines to their deaths in Operation Desert Fox and covering up their deaths, to Eisenhower and his allowing the Dulles brothers to overthrow Guatamala's prime minister and create a banana republic. Presidents have made decisions that for one reason or another have lead to one form of secrecy or another.
A President Obama will most likely be thrust in those same types of decisions.
As someone very invested in the safety of Iraqi nationals, what will he do about Iraq? We cannot simply leave, as it would provide staging ground for Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia to influence the country and create an even worse situation.
How do we deal with the new creation of the DIA? Will he keep its structure, or disassemble it as it used to be?
Guantanamo bay should be dismantled, but what should takes its place? We do have actual Al-Qaida members in holding. Also we have a large number of innocent nationals that are not wanted or cannot be given back to their host country, and third party countries do not treat them well.
How do we approach the increasing threat of domestic terrorism and the capabilties increasing, how should we treat this compared to international terrorism?
When it comes to the capture of Osama bin Laden, do we execute him?
How is an Obama administration going to deal with the abuses of constitutaional law done by the Bush Administration? Do we disbar many of the prosecutors in the kangaroo courts held in black sites? Do we fire the military leaders that allowed abuses to happen?
Let me know what you think
