Well kossacks, it didn't take very long at all before John McCain's campaign began co-opting Obama's message.
It began in earnest last Tuesday in the now-infamous "Lime-green Jello Speech" with McCain co-opting Obama's "Change You Can Believe In" message by using the slogan "Leadership You Can Believe In" and repeatedly announcing, "That's not change you can believe in", complete with his sardonistic, "I-just-swallowed-two-tablespoon-of-Castor-Oil", smarmy smile.
Now McCain has gone after Obama with his so-called "The McCain Report: A Blog You Can Believe In."
Some of the lowlights of this farce of information are:
A "tribute to Hillary Clinton":
Ultimately, and ironically, it seems she fell victim to a vast left-wing conspiracy that resented her generally centrist foreign policy views (early support for the Iraq war, support for Kyl-Lieberman, unwavering support for Israel, etc.).
A direct and misleading slam against Obama's stand on Iraq:
For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.
Of course, that completely omits the fact that the "politically safe route" that they blame Obama for taking was, at the time of the Iraq War Authorization Vote, political suicide. Those who opposed the war were labeled "traitors", "terrorist sympathizers" and "unpatriotic".
Lastly, a piece by Mccain that claims that "Obama's positions are so changey":
Responding to a question about Obama's shifting position on Jerusalem at today's presser in the Everglades:
I can’t react to every comment that Senator Obama makes, cause it probably will change. As it did on sitting down and talking with unconditionally with Ahmadinejad and other dictators. But the point is, Israel—Jerusalem is undivided. Jerusalem is the capitol. And we should move our embassy to Jerusalem before anything else happens. The subject of Jerusalem itself will be addressed in negotiations by the Israeli government and people.
Folks, we need to ensure that every Kossack gets on these blogs and evicerates John McCain's position(s) on these matters. We cannot give the McCain campaign a moment to allow such drivel to fester. I urge each and every one of us to blast back - on the McCain "blog" if possible - quickly, forceably and unceasingly. There is far too much at stake to allow any attempted "Swiftboat" tactic to take hold.
