I have to admit that I've been visiting the Larry Johnson's hate site, Noquarterusa.net, over the last couple of days. How to describe that place? It's become a din of rumor, inuendo, bitterness, paranoia, and race-baiting. I can't believe that they could possibly think the candidate they supported would approve of what that place has become. Here are some of the current titles on Noquarterusa's front page--all of them after the Clinton campaign announced that Hillary was dropping out:
"The Incoherent, Unqualified Candidate Cannot Complete a Sentence"
"He is the Selectee, Not the Nominee"
"Obama’s Hypocrisy!"
"Barack Obama: We Know The Deal"
"Obama’s Big Problem And How We Can Inflate It"
"How To Handle an Obamabot: Lesson II"
"An Update on the Michelle Obama Rant"
Perhaps partly as a result of seeing the trainwreck that the Clinton bitterenders have become, I'm not as enthusiastic about the prospect of welcoming back certain of the Clinton-backing bloggers. I thought the recommended diary calling for the return of the supposed writers-striking Clinton bloggers was, well, silly. Particularly for the ones that are participating in Larry Johnson's viciousness, personally, I don't want you to come back. I don't want to be in the same party as you and I would rather you became the Republicans you threatened to become.
I'm not going to try to be even-handed here. I think the divisiveness that characterized this primary lies to a much greater degree on the Clintons' and their supporters' side. I think they went too far purely out of political desparation--are still going way too far in some quarters out of simple bitterness--and I'm not going to ignore those facts and pretend bygones are bygones.
This position is hardly just about hard feelings. Go and read that site yourself and you'll find it hard to escape the conclusion that this is a group of somewhat imbalanced individuals, who have embraced a cult of personality, and who value that individual personality above any higher political objectives. Johnson in particular has become a laughingstock--virulently pushing bogus rumors of a secret tape the republicans have of Michelle Obama giving a racist diatribe sitting next to Louis Farrakan. Personally my opinion is that whether their for you or against you, these aren't the type of people you want on your side.
I admit I'm venting, and feel free express your disagreement if you choose.
