Now, both Rasmussen and Gallup are showing post-primary bounces for Barack Obama. In the latest Gallup daily tracking poll, Obama now leads by 6 points:
Obama: 48 (46)
McCain: 42 (44)
That's a 4-point bounce in just one day. (Edit- I should note that Gallup switched to 3-day averaging from 5-day averaging, but Gallup says that his lead would still be significant even with 5-day averaging)
In Rasmussen's poll, Obama has an 8-point lead without leaners and a 6-point lead when leaners are included:
Without leaners:
Obama: 48
McCain: 40
With Leaners:
Obama: 50
McCain: 44
Update
Some evidence that Obama's bounce has room to grow:
Since Obama clinched the nomination, Gallup has also asked registered voters for their Obama-McCain preference if Clinton were Obama's vice presidential running mate. At this point, Clinton would seem to give a slight three-point boost to Obama's margin over McCain, with the Obama-Clinton ticket leading McCain by an average of 51% to 42% over the past three days.
The 3-percent gain of having Clinton on the ticket sure isn't coming from Republicans. It's a lot more likely that this 3% represents Clinton supporters who have yet to come back to the party. I think after a few weeks of Clinton campaigning for Obama, they should come back to the D-column.
Update 2x
If you interpreted this diary to mean you can kick-back and stop working for Barack, then you had better realize that 6-points is not a sizeable lead and that this is JUNE. However, I doubt anyone here actually believes that this thing is sewn-up at all. Don't get complacent, work hard, and give some turkey ($$$) to Obama if you can afford it.
