This is going to be an ongoing series of diaries about the tragic loss of the American Dream. As I wrote yesterday, we are losing; if not lost, our American Dream.
It seems like more and more American businesses are being outsourced, or bought by Foreign Companies. The list is extensive!!!
As you have recently found out, our American Icon; Anheuser-Bush, has been bought out by InBev. That isn't good news for the folks who work there. InBev is a company notorious for cutting costs.
Anheuser has set out $1 billion of cost cuts, principally the result of reducing the workforce by between 10 and 15 percent by 2010 and speeding up price hikes.
InBev would be looking for more, analysts say. The beauty of the deal is adding Anheuser's near 50 percent share of the profitable U.S. market to InBev's global empire, but the limited overlap means little scope for wide-ranging cuts.
The two already have a deal for Anheuser to distribute InBev's European beers in the U.S. market.
Savings could come from downgrading Anheuser's corporate HQ to a North American head office, shifting Budweiser production in Britain to InBev plants, rationalising Chinese operations and boosting U.S. sales of AmBev brands and Bud volumes in Canada.
Anheuser-Bush
has been an American company since 1852. It was as American as Baseball, Football, and Apple Pie. Now it's another casualty of our times. But the horror doesn't stop there. Even the Pentagon isn't immune to layoffs.
The number of people who have been laid off this year is a staggering 8.5 million people.
The newest fiasco the Bush Administration has up their sleeves; to help out with our fuel cost, is to raise the ban his father; George H.W. Bush, had made in 1990 for offshore drilling.
Of course, Congress has to sign off on it too. But as we all know; they are submissively in the court of
King George,
and will buckle to his Will as usual.
All it does, it placates one problem and antagonize another. Drilling offshore will cause more pollution and further damage our Planet.
Boy folks, it just doesn't get any better than this huh??!!!
George W. Bush is talking right now on MSNBC, doing his typical "Blame Game" on the "Democratic Congress" for our high cost of fuel. Obviously, he has been living under a rock for 7 years. He forgets that HIS war in Iraq has cost Americans 2.7 TRILLION DOLLARS so far and we aren't even finished with the year yet!!! This is totally unacceptable, and unforgivable!
We need change NOW!!
