Hello,
Yep, it is like that. Our family just does not have any money this month to give to the Obama campaign or the DNC. We don't even know if we can make our bills. I am hoping to be able to give some in August, if not then maybe in September.
I know for many people, money is more than tight. But the fact that I cannot give this month does not mean that I have lost enthusiasm for Obama. I can't wait to vote for him in November and it saddens me that I cannot give more money to his campaign at this time.
I know from reading Daily Kos that some people who have money, did not give because of FISA. Can I be honest? I think it that is stupid because this election is so much more than FISA. At least, that is what I think. The way I feel about it, the government wire taps anyway, they just get a warrant and they get the warrants they want. I would never talk over anything I want to keep secret on the telephone. Not that I have anything I want to keep secret but my mistrust of government and this issue has been going on for years. It is not like we have privacy in this matter and I fail to see what the big deal is. I am just so outraged by so many other things.
FISA was never that important to me because you know what? I think that the change that I believe that Obama will bring will be so much more important and effect many more people lives in a positive way for generations to come. Whether he does everything he sets out to do, almost doesn't matter, but what matters is that people start thinking differently. They stop with the whole 'me' generation and start thinking about 'Us'. That there is better healthcare coverage, better education some attempts at Social Justice, to me this is what is important. It will effect the next generation and the next. An 'ideas' change.
I wish we had more money to give because I would and I wish that those of you who are disappointed by FISA and are withholding donations, think about it and give to his campaign. FISA was a train wreck waiting to happen anyways and no matter what, it was not going to go the way that many here thought that it should go. There is a bigger battle to fight and getting all caught up in the mud pit that is one's disappointment about FISA, doesn't allow for movement ahead. You just stay stuck and there is no forward movement. And then the enemy can just pick us off, one by one, dollar by dollar until come January, John McCain is President. And that is just a real ugly thought.
Please give money.
